Trout Fishing and Hiking near the Sugar Hollow Trout Park

The Sugar Hollow Trout Park and Hatchery is best enjoyed when placed amongst the other wonderful natural attractions available in the surrounding area.  The Trout Park marks the beginning of a terrific stretch of Catch & Release Fishing fishing along Bowman's Creek stocked by the PA Fish Commission, (The creek is occasionally and quite accidentally stocked by the Trout Hatchery as well!)  Fly fisherman are always welcome to park their cars at the Trout Park and wander down to the Stream for some great fly fishing.  If you catch us when we aren't busy, a tour if the hatchery may also be arranged.

For the adventurous seeking great hiking and fishing, Bowman's Creek can be traced to its headwaters in the State Game Lands a wonderful and wild 44,000 acre nature preserve only a few miles from the Trout Park.  Guided trips into the State Game Lands are available through Dick Ackourey and Sons Guide Service or they can be explored unguided with a good map and a GPS.

The Game Lands merge to the west with Ricketts Glen State Park.  Widely regarded as the most beautiful park in Pennsylvania, Ricketts Glen features hiking trails and campgrounds along wondrous waterfalls and natural mountain lakes.
